Sanjukta Patra, a 36-year-old YouTuber chef from Odisha, exemplifies how determination and discipline can lead to remarkable results. After her second pregnancy, she transformed her life, losing 22 kg in just six months without gym memberships or extreme dieting.
Balancing the challenges of parenthood and personal health, she adopted a structured lifestyle, emphasizing home-based exercises, a balanced diet, and consistency.
Following the birth of her son, Sanjukta’s weight peaked at 82 kg by October 2023, partly due to breastfeeding. However, by April-May 2024, her weight dropped to 59-60 kg, and her waistline reduced significantly from 98-100 cm to 86-87 cm. Transitioning from XL to M clothing sizes, she regained not only her physical fitness but also her confidence.
Her weight struggles were not new. During her first pregnancy, she had gained from 55 kg to 78 kg, managing to lose 15 kg within a year. However, after her second delivery, the challenges multiplied. Simple activities like walking or performing household chores became exhausting. Additionally, she developed varicose veins, further motivating her to take action.
Determined to regain her fitness, wear her favorite outfits, and run 5 km again, Sanjukta embarked on a disciplined weight-loss journey. Initial hurdles in balancing family, work, and fitness were daunting, but the first 6 kg loss fueled her resolve. Support from her husband, a marathon runner, and encouragement from friends kept her spirits high. Over time, she regained confidence, resumed appearing on camera, and embraced her active lifestyle.
Sanjukta’s weight-loss journey was not about deprivation but mindful eating. Her day started with green tea or green tea with lemon, followed by a light, nutrient-dense breakfast, including her signature dry fruit smoothie three times a week. Other breakfast options included idli, poha, or dosa, consumed in controlled portions. Lunch consisted of home-cooked meals like rotis, rice, and boiled vegetables, with limited sugar and occasional indulgences in traditional sweets like ladoos. Dinner was completed early by 7:30 PM, followed by green tea before bed.
Spiritual fasting played a role in her regimen, with 3-4 fasting days a month, during which she consumed minimal fruits. Her dietary habits focused on balance, ensuring sustainability and long-term benefits.
Sanjukta’s exercise routine revolved around her daily activities. Morning walks of 2-3 km, active household chores, and evening home workouts formed the core of her regimen. Her evening exercises included jogging, jumping jacks, and online workout sessions lasting 20-30 minutes. Additionally, nighttime family walks with her husband and children fostered a bond while keeping her active.
Maintaining this five-day-a-week routine, she demonstrated that consistency and self-motivation could lead to incredible results without gym facilities or strenuous programs.
Sanjukta’s story underscores that patience and perseverance are key to achieving health goals. By prioritizing discipline, mindful eating, and regular activity, she achieved a significant transformation, proving that anyone can reclaim their health and well-being with the right mindset. Her journey inspires others to embrace sustainable habits, highlighting the potential for change even amidst the demands of everyday life.
